President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a message of condolence to the King of Saudi Arabia, His Highness King Salam bin Abdulaziz on the three suicide attacks in Qatif, Jeddeh and Medina recently leaving at least four people dead and others injured.

On July 4^th, three suicide attacks took place in 24 hours, with the deadliest occurring in Medina, one of the holiest sites in Islam, where four people were killed and another person wounded. Before dawn near the U.S. Consulate in Jeddah, an attacker killed only himself after detonating an explosive. Policemen were injured in that attack; while in Qatif in eastern Saudi Arabia, a suicide bomber attempted to launch an attack at a Shiite mosque but failed, killing himself in the process.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, in the message to His Highness King Salam bin Abdulaziz, who is also Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, President Sirleaf said, “It is with great sadness and distress that we have learned of three suicide attacks in Qatif, Jeddah and Medina on Monday, July 4^th, 2016.”

She, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia and in her own name, extended to the King of Saudi Arabia, and through him, to the Government and people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and especially the families of the victims, heartfelt condolences for the irreparable loss sustained.

President Sirleaf said the Government and people of Liberia stand in solidarity with His Highness in condemning all acts of terrorism perpetrated against the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia and other residents within the Kingdom.

She called for global action to bring an end to all acts of terrorism which continue to undermine development, peace and stability in the world.

President Sirleaf prayed that as the Kingdom goes through this period of national mourning, Almighty Allah will grant His Highness and the people of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia strength, courage and fortitude during these difficult times.
