President Sirleaf Congratulates Sierra Leone on 54th Independence Anniversary
The President of the Republic of Liberia, Her Excellency Mrs. Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a Message of Congratulations to the Government and People of the Republic of Sierra Leone on the occasion commemorating the 54th Independence Anniversary of that country.
In her message to her Sierra Leonean counterpart, His Excellency Mr. Ernest Bai Koromah, President Johnson Sirleaf extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Government and People of Sierra Leone, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia, and in her own name.
The Liberian leader added that the observance of the 54th Independence Anniversary of Sierra Leone, comes at the critical point when the three countries within the Mano River Union (MRU) region have committed themselves to utilizing the full potential of their people and mobilizing available resources to rid the sub-region of the deadly Ebola scourge which has left significant scars and injuries on the three nations.
President Johnson Sirleaf further stated that despite the huge challenges posed by Ebola, the people of Sierra Leone have shown extraordinary courage and resilience which confirm their tenacity to build a vibrant nation.
The Liberian President added that as the people of Sierra Leone celebrate this joyous occasion, the People of Liberia wish president Koromah, and the government and people of Sierra Leone good health, prosperity and long life.
Madam Johnson Sirleaf then entertained the hope that the cordial ties of friendship so happily subsisting between the people of Liberia and Sierra Leone will be strengthened as the two governments explore new areas of partnerships.
She also prayed that the Almighty God will endow President Koromah with abundant wisdom and strength as he steers the affairs of his people.
