The President of the Republic of Liberia, Her Excellency Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf has sent a Condolence Message to the Government and People of Gabon, especially member of the bereaved family for the death of President Omar Bongo.

The Gabonese leader died in Barcelona, Spain on Sunday, June 7th     after a period of illness. President Johnson-Sirleaf said the death of President Bongo is a loss not only to the bereaved family and the people of Gabon, but also to Africa.

The Liberian leader said the fallen President will be remembered as one of the founding members of the former Organization of African Unity (OAU) and its successor, the African Union (AU) for the many charitable works he undertook.

Meanwhile, President Sirleaf has prayed that Almighty God will grant comfort and solace to the bereaved family and the people of Gabon during this period of bereavement
