Egypt Interim Government Congratulates Liberia on 166th National Day Anniversary
Cairo, 30 July 2013: A special representative from the Office of the interim Egyptian President, Mr. Mahamed Nagm, Chamberlain of the Presidency, paid a courtesy visit on H.E Alexander H.N. Wallace, III of the Republic of Liberia at his residence in Cairo and conveyed a message of congratulations from interim President Adli Mansour, the Government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt to Her Excellency Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, the Government and people of the Republic of Liberia on the occasion of the 166th independence anniversary of the Liberian Republic, on July 27, 2013.
In a brief remark, Ambassador Wallace expressed appreciation for the warm congratulatory message received from the interim President during this difficult period in Egypt’s modern history, and extended in return greetings and felicitations on behalf of the President, Madam Ellen Johnson-Sirleaf, as well as the Government and people of the Republic of Liberia to the interim Government and people of the Arab Republic of Egypt. He added that the Government and people of Liberia are deeply concern over the ongoing political standoff in Egypt and praying for peace and stability to be restored soon.
Ambassador Wallace also said Liberia will continue to be grateful and appreciative to the Government and People of Egypt for the invaluable assistance to Liberia which includes technical, developments and capacity building. According to him, Liberia-Egypt relations are marked by mutual respect and friendly cooperation for the benefit of the two Governments and Peoples.
The visit of the special representative was postponed to July 27th as the nation was engulfed into massive protests on July 26th.
Meanwhile, the celebration program of this year’s Independence Day has been postponed due to the ongoing unrest and security concern in Egypt. The celebration is expected to take place on august 24th if situation improves.
In another development, the new Ambassador of the Republic of Senegal, H.E. Dr. Mamadou Mamoudou Sall paid a courtesy call on H.E. Alexander H.N. Wallace, III at the Embassy in Cairo on July 17, 2013. The two dignitaries spoke of mutual relations between Liberia and Senegal.
