Vp Taylor Questions Educators                                                                                                                                       Vice President Jewel Howard Taylor has questioned instructors who have nurtured leaders here to hold themselves responsible for the missteps, mistakes and wrongs in the field of governance across Liberia today. ’’Forgive me, but I need to say this academic setting that when one looks around today in the field of governance across our Nation and sees the missteps, mistakes and wrong, I wonder if the instructor under whose hands  the relevant  persons have passed, even wonder-if they are responsible action?’’ Madam Taylor wonders. Her assertions were contained in a speech delivered Thursday 22, August at the University of Liberia(UL) Fendell Campus during the ground breaking ceremony for the University’s centennial printing press project, pens the New Dawn newspaper.

China Stresses Education For Liberian Students                                                                                    The Chinese Ambassador to Liberia has made special emphasis of his Government’s commitment to help Liberian students study in the People Republic of China. Ambassador FU Jijun said 2019 has been a remarkable year for the China-Liberia relationship in awarding scholarships and building the capacities of Liberians. Speaking Wednesday evening at the Chinese Embassy at program marking a farewell reception for Liberian students going to study in China, Ambassador FU said since President George Weah attended the Beijing submit of Forum of China-Africa Cooperation in September of 2018, the Chinese education cooperation has been moving to higher level, adding that “on September 3, 2018, H.E President Xi Jinping announced eight initiatives for enhancing China-Africa collaboration in the next three years and beyond, the News newspaper imply.”                                                                                                   

FAO Increases Meat Inspection Capacity to Ensure Safe Meat Consumption in Liberia

World meat production is projected to double by 2050, most of which is expected in developing countries. The growing meat market provides a significant opportunity for livestock farmers and meat processors in these countries. Nevertheless, increasing livestock production and the safe processing and marketing of hygienic meat and meat products represents a big challenge. The sanitary conditions in the abattoirs and the sale of unsafe meat for human consumption are a major concern to the Ministry of Agriculture (MoA) and the Food and Agriculture Organization of the United Nations (FAO) – Emergency Center for Transboundary Animal Diseases (ECTAD) in Liberia. The absence of sufficient number of qualified meat inspectors coupled with limited number of slaughtering facilities in the country poses a great threat to ensuring the safety of the public health, the News newspaper relates                                                                                                                    

UNFPA, PUL Announce Award for Reportage on Sexual, Reproductive Health Rights

UNFPA, the United Nations Population Fund and the Press Union of Liberia (PUL) have launched the UNFPA Liberia Award for Reportage on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights for Journalists reporting on sexual health, sexual rights, reproductive health and reproductive rights in Liberia. The award is intended to increase media awareness and engagement on Sexual and Reproductive Health and Rights within community and national media outlets and recognize and encourage outstanding efforts of journalists in Liberia. It will consider articles and reports, either of investigative or human-interest types produced within the calendar year as determined by the PUL Annual Award Committee. The winner will receive an award including a cash prize of US$500.00. “UNFPA wants to recognize the works of journalists who support and promote the right of every individual to enjoy full sexual and reproductive health without any distinction or coercion of any kind on any grounds,” says UNFPA Liberia Resident Representative Dr. Bannet Ndyanabangi, the News newspaper writes.                  

Assistant Gender Minister Off To Uk                                                                                                Assistant   Gender Minister Mamensie Kabba is off to the United Kingdom to honor a speaking engagement at the 3rd Annual Convention of the Liberian Mandingo Federation in Europe (LIMAFE) from August 23 – 25, 2019, in London. The Convention is an annual gathering of diaspora Mandingos in Europe and an event at which practical solutions are derived for the common good of the motherland including panel discussions, presentations of papers around strategic themes that would contribute to specific social and economic interventions at home. Participants are from diverse backgrounds, public officials, academics, entrepreneurs, business leaders, public servants, civil society actors, among others. Assistant Minister Kabba will address the Convention on Friday, August 23, 2019 and lead panel discussions on the theme: “Overcoming the Cultural Barriers affecting Women Education and Empowerment within our Community, the News newspaper relates.”.                                                                                                                                                                                                                     

UL Breaks Ground For Printing Press Project Printing Press Project First Of Its Kind 

The States run University of Liberia (UL) is said to be joining best international practices in rising needed funds in sustaining its daily operations and programs respectively. The UL as part of its centennial activities is undertaking three projects; among many others, is the printing press project of the institution. The modern printing press project, upon full completion, will be situated at the UL’s fendell Campus in District #1, Montserrado County. Speaking to our reporter Thursday, August 22, 2019, the Vice President for Academic Affairs of the UL, Dr. William Allen, said the printing press is the future of the UL and an example of what can be achieved through private enterprise, pens the Heritage Newspaper.

CSO Commends Save The Children

As Save The Children observes 100 years of existence as an international movement children organization, a pro-democracy peace building civil organization, the Society for the Promotion of Peace, National Reconciliation and Reunification, have closely monitored its activities over the years in Liberia. As result, the organization has been unanimously selected out of several children welfare organizations, both local and international, through a vetting process which was very credible and transparent as the winner of the CSO best reliable, productive and credible children international organization in Liberia now. the Inquirer writes.

Last Hope To Make A Deal

According to Hot Pepper, President George Mannah Weah has been, or will soon be, invited to visit the capital city of the United States of America, Washington, D.C. The visit is not a state-visit; it is to attend the US-Liberia Dialogue Forum, hosted by the US Institute of Peace in Washington, D.C. from September 17 to September 18, 2019; fortunately, the United States Secretary of State, Mike Pompeo, who previously served as Director of the Director of the Central Intelligence Agency (CIA), will be in attendance. Pompeo is aware of the happenings in Liberia and might just have a sympathetic ear for President Weah. But there are frantic efforts on the part of war and economic crimes investigators attending the meeting, headed by the erstwhile Truth and Reconciliation Commission (TRC) boss, Jerome Verdier, to make sure that President
