GOL Engages Delta Authorities On Suspension Of Flight To Liberia
The Government of Liberia (GOL) is in high-level consultations with the management of Delta Airlines intended to explore options that will not disrupt the experience and convenience of travelling via Delta. A government delegation comprising Counselor Seward Cooper, Minister of State for Legal and Economic Affairs and Mr. Gyude Moore, Deputy Chief of Office Staff in the Office of the President, is in Atlanta, Georgia, to meet with the government on the suspension of its service to Monrovia, effective August 31, 2014, due to weak passenger demand. It can be recessed that in 2010, Delta Airlines commenced direct flights to New York from Monrovia via Accra, Ghana, while Nigeria and Ghana, two other destinations of Delta Airlines, are netting 10,000,000 and over 2,000,000 passengers per year respectively, Liberia’s highest passenger level was only 205,000, recorded in 2013, Heritagewrites.

‘Rioters’ Charged
Forty-one persons suspected of rioting have been charged by the Sanniquellie Magisterial Court in Nimba County. The ‘rioters were arrested in connection with a violent protest last week in Zolowee, Nimba County, which left millions of dollars worth of property damage. The protesters had taken to the street in demand of benefits reportedly owed them by AcellorMittal, theNEWS writes.

The United Nations Children Education Funds (UNICEF) partner Serving Humanity with Affection Love and an Open Mind SHALOM has begun a week long major sensitization campaign on the deadly Ebola Virus on Bushrod Island.. According to the Executive Director of SHALOM, Madam Pate’Chon, Campion is a continuation of their anticipation to sensitize the public in their adolescent project communities that they currently operate on the danger of the deadly Ebola virus is the county, Heritage reports.

Supreme Court Lifts Justice Minister Suspension
The Honorable Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia has lifted the suspension of Liberia’s Solicitor General and Justice Minister Christiana Tar. In October of last year, the Honorable Supreme Court of the Republic of Liberia suspended Minister Christiana Tah for Contempt for releasing the Managing Editor of the FrontPage Africa newspaper, Rodney. She was also banned from legally practicing in any court of competent jurisdiction as per the benefit of her suspension, The Inquirer reports.

Journalist Heads Carter Center-Liberia
The Carter Center has named Mr. Powee Flomoku as the first Liberian Chiefs of Party for its office in Liberia. The appointment takes effect today. Journalist Flomoku will lead both general office operations and its Access to Justice Project. As Chief of Party, Flomoku will be responsible for overall technical, operational, and financial management of the Access to Justice Project in Liberia. He will also coordinate with other Carter Center projects, including the Access to Information Initiative and the Mental Health program, the NEWS reports.

Education Ministry Made Assessable
Education Minister Etmonia Tarpeh says the ministry is now made assessable to the public and more prepared to ensure that quality education is provided in the county, according to the In Profile Daily, Minister Tarpeh made the remarks on Wednesday during the official dedication of the Ministry’s newly refurbished head office on 3rd Street, in Sinkor.

Canadian Doctors Arrive For Ebola Today
According to the New Democrat Newspaper, third Canadian is preparing to join a 10-member team of Samaritan Purse comprising doctors and nurses from North America providing urgently needed medical care to victims of the deadliest outbreak of the Ebola virus in recorded history that has so far killed more than 450 people in West Africa. Dorothy McEachern, a registered nurse from Fergus Ontario, who also serve Samaritan Purse during its response to the 2010 cholera outbreak in Haiti, is expected here today. She will join Dr. Azaria Marthyma of Victoria and registered nurse Karen Daniels of Vancouver, both of whom have been here since late June.
Morgan State University To Increase Tubman University “capacity
Capacity building need for the Tubman University in Maryland County may no longer be a worrisome issue as it has signed a memorandum of understanding (MOU) with the Morgan State University, to benefit in more areas of professional concern. A dispatch from the Liberian Embassy in Washington D. C. indicates that the William V.S. Tubman in Maryland County and Morgan State University signed a land-mark MOU with benefits to include but not limited to enhancing the preparation of a diverse and internationally competent workforce; developing undergraduate and graduate curricula that include theory and research on international topic relevant to Tubman University and Morgan State University, Daily Observer writes
