President Weah Consoles Italy Following Tragic Motorway-Bridge Collapse in Genoa

President George Manneh Weah has sent a message of condolence to the Government and people of the Republic of Italy,  following a tragic incidence of the collapse of the Morandi motorway-bridge in Genoa, Italy resulting to the death of about thirty-seven persons and the injuring of sixteen others with score of others missing.

        

According to a Foreign Ministry release, in the message to His Excellency Sergio Mattarella, President of the Republic of Italy, President George Manneh Weah, on behalf of Liberia, expressed deepest condolence to the Government and people of Italy especially the bereaved families for the irreparable loss sustained. 

 

“During this difficult period of burden and grief, you have my assurances that our thoughts are with you and the people of Italy.  We join you and your compatriots in praying for the deceased and wishing speedy and full recovery for those injured”, President Weah declared. 

 

The Liberian leader further stated that Italy has always emerged stronger from crisis, expressing confidence that this would be of no exception to the awe-inspiring and resolute spirit of the Italian Republic.
