President Weah Extols Russian Federation On National Day

President George Manneh Weah has extended warmest congratulations to the Government and People of the Russian Federation on the occasion of the anniversary of that country’s National Day on June 12th. 

 

June 12, 1990 commemorates the adoption of the Declaration of State Sovereignty of the Russian Soviet Federative Socialist Republic (RSFSR).

 

The passage of this Declaration by the First Congress of People's Deputies marked the beginning of constitutional reform in the Russian Soviet state.

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, in his message to H.E. Vladimir Putin, President of the Russian Federation and through him, to the government and people of the Russian Federation, on half of the government and people of Liberia and in his own name President Weah said Russian Day each year, presents an excellent opportunity to reflect on cooperation between our two countries and opportunities for improvement.

 

He expressed the hope that the relations between their two countries and peoples will be heightened to their mutual benefits. “It is my desire that together we will explore more meaningful areas of bilateral cooperation, particularly in the areas of private sector partnerships.”

 

President Weah expressed congratulations to President Putin and the people of Russia for serving as host for the 2018 World cup, which he said presents an opportunity for the hundreds of thousands of visitors to appreciate and experience the rich culture of your great country.

 

The Liberian leader wish for his Russian counterpart personal happiness and for the Government and people of the Russian federation, continued peace, security and prosperity as they engage in hosting the FIFA 2018 World Cup this June.
