President Weah Sends Congratulatory Message to the Republic of Iceland On National Day

President George Manneh Weah has sent a congratulatory message to the Government and People of the Republic of Iceland on the occasion commemorating the National Day of that country.

In the message to H.E. Guoni Thorlacius Johannesson, President of the Republic of Iceland, President George Manneh Weah, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia and in his own name, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the Iceland leader, and through him, to the Government and People of the Republic of Iceland as they commemorate this historic occasion. 

The Liberian President noted that as the people of Iceland celebrates this event, in the midst of the global health pandemic, COVID-19, his Government highly appreciates the burgeoning and heightened relation subsisting between Liberia and Iceland.

President Weah further told his Iceland counterpart that Iceland’s assistance to Liberia’s fishing industry is going a long way in resuscitating the sector which has been one of the mainstays of economic growth and jobs creation noting that through the Republic of Iceland the Government of Liberia has employed mechanisms which are vital to the sustainable use of our oceans, seas and marine resources for the benefit of present and future generations. 

President George Manneh Weah also expressed hope for sustained cooperation on common values and interests that will expand the bond of amity between Liberia and Iceland and will grow stronger across science, education and culture. 

The Liberian President then wished for President Guoni Thorlacius Johannesson continued good health and success as well as for the Government and people of the Republic of Iceland continued peace, stability and prosperity.
