Two Foreign Ministry Officials Suspended
Monrovia: Febraury 19, 2008: The Authorities of the Foreign Ministry have suspended two of its personnel assigned at the Bureau of Financial Affairs of the Ministry and turned them over to the Justice Ministry for further investigation into alleged financial malpractices by the officials.
The suspended officials are the Director of the Bureau of Financial Affairs, Mr. Elisha Moore and the Chief Accountant of the Bureau, Mr. Tugbe C. Tugbeh. The lifting or otherwise of the suspension from their positions, which is in line with Section 4.2.6 of the standing orders of the Civil Service, is pending the outcome of the investigation by the Justice Ministry.
According to preliminary findings by a private consultancy firm and the Inspectorate which were requested by the Foreign Ministry to conduct an analysis of the financial records at the Home Office and the Foreign Missions of the Ministry, the two officials were found allegedly involved in a number of serious malpractices which require further investigation.
