President Weah Applauds Malian President-Elect Ibrahim Boubacar Keita and Opposition Leader Cisse Following Successful Election

President George Manneh Weah has sent a congratulatory message to His Excellency Mr. Ibrahim Boubacar Keita, President-Elect of the Republic of Mali, on his re-election as President of that West African state. 

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, in the message to His Malian counterpart, H. E. President George Manneh Weah, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, and in his own name, extended warmest congratulations and best wishes to President Keita on his re-election to the highest office of the Republic of Mali.

 

 

 The Liberian President further noted that Mr. Keita’s successful re-election as President of the Republic of Mali has brought pride not only to Mali, but the entire African continent which he said is an indication of   progress in the consolidation of the democratic Process in Africa.

   

 

The Liberian leader expressed confidence that as President-Elect Keita continues his herculean task of shaping the future of his country, the cordial ties of friendship and corporation subsisting between the two sisterly countries and peoples will be further strengthened in the spirit of Friendship and Cooperation.

 

 

“As you begin this arduous but ennoble journey, I pray that the Almighty Allah will continue to endow you with increased wisdom and resilience to lead the people of Mali to prosperity and continued happiness during your tenure,” President Weah warmly told his Malian counterpart. 

 

 

In a related development, President George Manneh Weah has also sent a congratulatory message to Mr. Soumaila Cisse, Opposition Leader of Mali and members of the opposition community for the peaceful conduct of  the recent Presidential and General Elections in Mali. 

 

 

President Weah further stated that the Malian recent elections marked critical victory for democracy in Mali and Africa as a whole, adding “your participation in the presidential elections of your country demonstrates your strong commitment to democratic values and the rules of law”

 

 

The Liberian leader also added that the opposition’s resort to the rule of law and their tolerant disposition during these proceedings bring pride not only to the people of Mali but to the entire Continent of Africa.
