President Sirleaf Hails Greece on Independence Anniversary and Feast of the Annunciation

President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has congratulated the Government and people of the Hellenic Republic of Greece on the occasion commemorating the Independence Anniversary of that country on March 25, each year.

 

Greece’s Independence Day is also concomitantly celebrated with the Annunciation to the Theotokos or the Feast of the Annunciation.

 

In the message to her Greek counterpart, H.E. Mr. Prokopis Pavlopoulos, the Liberian leader extended heartfelt congratulations and sincere best wishes, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia, adding, “As you celebrate this auspicious occasion, we recognize the great strides of the people of Greece in the last five years, which culminated into the rebound of your presence.”

 

A Foreign Ministry release says, the Liberian leader further expressed satisfaction that Greece and Liberia have enjoyed excellent relations spanning many years, resulting to significant number of Greek-owned vessels flying the Liberian flag.

 

President Sirleaf further indicated that it is Liberia’s ardent desire to discover new areas of mutual economic interest, even as both countries jointly work through the United Nations in advancing democracy, peace and security for all mankind.
