President Sirleaf Sends ‘Heartfelt Congratulations’ to the Danish Monarch On Constitution Day
President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has sent a heartfelt congratulatory message to Her Majesty Margrethe II, Queen of the Kingdom of Denmark as her country celebrates its Constitution Day on June 5, 2016.
Constitution Day, observed each year on June 5, commemorates the anniversary of the signing of the Danish Constitution of 1849, which established Denmark as a constitutional monarchy, and honors the constitution of 1953, which was adopted on the same date.
According to a Foreign Ministry release, in her message to Her Majesty Margrethe II of the Kingdom of Denmark, President Sirleaf conveyed through Her Majesty to the loving people of Denmark, her heartfelt congratulations and profound best wishes, on behalf of the Government and people of Liberia and in her own name.
“As we join you in commemorating this auspicious occasion, we are deeply satisfied that relations subsisting between our two countries continue to be cordial and productive,” President Sirleaf said.
The Liberian Leader recalled gains made in the friendship, which spans many decades and continues to demonstrate great potential, between both nations.
“This special occasion has again set the basis for the renewal of our excellent ties and the recommitment to our shared objectives aimed at making the world a safe happy place, as we collectively strive for the attainment of global peace and prosperity,” she further indicated.
President Sirleaf ardently wished that she and Her Majesty will jointly endeavor to enhance and enrich these flourishing ties of friendship in exploring new areas of cooperation for the mutual benefit of both countries.
She then expressed to the Danish Majesty, Queen Margrethe II her very best wishes for her personal well-being and for the Government and people of Denmark, continued peace and happiness.
