President Johnson Sirleaf Congratulates Gambian President Jammeh

The President of the Republic of Liberia, Her Excellency Madam Ellen Johnson Sirleaf, has expressed hope that the bond of friendship so happily subsisting between Liberia and the sisterly Republic of Gambia, will be cemented in the years ahead.


According to a Foreign Ministry release, President Johnson Sirleaf made the statement in her congratulatory message to the Government and People of the Republic of Gambia on the auspicious occasion marking the 46th Independence Anniversary of that country. On February 18, 1965, The Gambia was granted independence from the Britain.


In the message, President Johnson Sirleaf extended warmest facilitations and best wishes to her Gambian counterpart, His Excellency Mr. Yayah J. J. Jammeh, and through him, to the Government and People of the Republic of Gambia, on behalf of the Government and People of Liberia and in her own name.


The Liberian leader further hoped that the two countries will work cooperatively together with the sub-regional organization, ECOWAS, African Union, and the United Nations to promote international peace and security.


President Johnson Sirleaf then prayed that the Almighty God will continue to shower President Jammeh with abundant wisdom and good health as he leads his people to noble heights.
