Liberia-Morocco Joint Commission: A Win-Win for Both Nations

The Second Session of the Joint Commission for Cooperation dialogue between the Kingdom of Morocco and the Republic of Liberia has ended in Monrovia with a win-win for both nations.

 

According to a Foreign Ministry release, at the opening of the two-day Joint Commission Meeting, which was on May 10th and 11th, 2018, Hon. B. Elias Shoniyin, the Acting Minister of Foreign Affairs of Liberia, welcomed the Moroccan delegation and expressed the willingness of the Government of Liberia to strengthen a framework of cooperation between the two countries.

 

The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation of the Kingdom of Morocco represented by Mr. Yousseef Slaoui (Africa Directorate) and Mr. Mohamed Bentaja (Legal Directorate), expressed their sincere appreciation to the Liberian authorities for the warm welcome extended to their delegation throughout its stay in Liberia and for the assistance provided to make their mission a success.

 

The Moroccan official delegation was comprised of various ministerial departments and agencies, including the Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation (Africa Directorate and Legal Directorate), Finance (General Directorate and Taxation and Directorate of Treasury and External Finance), Agriculture, Transport (Directorate of Maritime Traffic and Directorate of Road Transport), the Moroccan Agency for International Cooperation (AMCI).

 

During the high-level two-day technical meeting, the Moroccan delegation held fruitful and constructive discussions with their Liberian counterpart in order to prepare the Second Session of the Joint Commission of Cooperation that will take place in Rabat, according to the diplomatic agenda of the Ministers of Foreign Affairs of the two countries.

 

During the two-day meeting, a number of agreements, under the Legal Framework, were reached including a Draft Agreement between the Government of the Kingdom of Morocco and the Government of the Republic of Liberia; cooperation agreement in the field of vocational training between the Office of Vocational Training and Employment Promotion of Morocco and the Morocco International Cooperation Agency and the Ministry of Youths and Sports of Liberia and a visa exemption for holders of diplomatic, among others.

 

All the agreements are meant to reinforce the legal bilateral framework and lay the basis for the desired, increased cooperation between the two countries.
