Liberia’s Foreign Minister, Her Excellency Mrs. Olubanke King-Akerele, on Monday, September 15, 2008 commissioned Mrs. Mary Ann Fossung, 1st Secretary and Consul of the Embassy of Liberia in Senegal.

Speaking at the colourful ceremony held in the Foreign Ministry Conference Room on the Fourth Floor, Minister Akerele recounted the strong ties subsisting between Liberia and the sisterly Republic of Senegal.

According to a Foreign Ministry release, the Minister noted that Senegal continues to play a major role in bringing peace to Liberia, and added that the sisterly Republic has contributed troops to two peacekeeping missions in Liberia. Minister Akerele said there is a strong commitment between Liberia and Senegal.

She admonished Mrs. Fossung to justify the confidence reposed in her, adding that her assignment has huge responsibility and heavy commitment.

Responding, Mrs. Fossung promised to justify the confidence reposed in her and vowed to perform to the aspiration of the Liberian Government. She promised to promote Liberia’s economy and development diplomacy including the relationship between the two countries.

Meanwhile, the occasion was attended by officials of the Foreign Ministry including Senior Ambassador At Large, Hon. Carlton A. Karpeh, Assistant Ministers Josephus M. Gray, and Alphonso Nimene.
