President Weah Congratulates EU on the Observance of the 70th Anniversary of the Schuman Declaration

President George Manneh Weah has sent a congratulatory message to the European Council and Commission as well as to the Governments and peoples of the European Union, on the occasion commemorating the 70th Anniversary of the Schuman Declaration, the EU Day.


In his message to H.E. Charles Michel, President of the European Council, President George Manneh Weah, on behalf of Liberia, extended heartfelt congratulations and best wishes to the European Council and the Governments and peoples of the European Union, as they celebrate this historic milestone.


According to a Foreign Minister release, President George Manneh Weah noted that as Liberia join the EU in Celebrating this historic milestone in the midst of the global pandemic (COVID-19), it is about time that the two leaders reflect on the noble vision of former French Foreign Minister Robert Schuman, which gave birth to the formation of the European Council in 1950.   


The Liberian leader further hoped, with elevation, that the bilateral relations subsisting between the EU and Liberia will continue to be marked by strong bonds of friendship and cooperation.   


The Liberia President also observed, with deep sense of gratitude, that the Liberia-EU relations have grown to greater height in recent years through collaborative programs of mutual interest, to the respective countries, which seek to support the promotion of world peace, security, human dignity and stability.


President George Mannah Weah further reaffirmed his government’s desire to showcase the dividend of peaceful collaboration among peoples of the globe.


The Liberian President then wished for Mr. Charles Michel, personal good health, as well as, for the people of the E U, peace and prosperity.
