The Ministry of Foreign Affairs announces that Her Excellency President Ellen Johnson Sirleaf has appointed Ambassador Conmany B. Wesseh as Liberia’s Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary to the European Union (EU). Ambassador Wesseh has accepted the offer.

This decision is in recognition of Liberia’s increasingly strategic and demanding partnership with the European Union for accelerated development aimed at promoting Liberia’s Poverty Reduction Strategy (PRS).

The President expresses her immense confidence in the experience, integrity and ability of Ambassador Wesseh to continue his highly appreciated service to the Government and people of Liberia.

Pending Ambassador Wesseh’s commissioning and assumption of duties, Foreign Minister Olubanke King-Akerele has assigned him the responsibility to conduct the affairs of the Department of International Cooperation and Economic Integration within the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, a task he has performed creditably over the last three years.

In addition to the regular duties of that office, he has been mandated to pay particular attention to the peace and security situation in the Mano River Union and in ECOWAS and propose the restructuring of the said Department. Minister King-Akerele warmly congratulates Ambassador Wesseh.
